Constitution of the Okyeman Cultural Association of Toronto


ARTICLE 1: NAME

The Organization shall be called OKYEMAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF TORONTO INC.

ARTICLE 2: DEFINITIONS

Okyeman refers to the three Akyems, namely; Abuakwa, Kotoku and Bosome traditional areas of the Eastern Region of Ghana, through which flows the, or are enclosed by, river Birem. Akyemkwaa, for the purpose of the organization means:

any person born in, or whose parents come or one of the parents comes from any of the three Akyem traditional areas, or
the spouse of an Akyemkwaa
  • Executive means the elected leaders of the OKYEMAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION TORONTO INC.
  • ARTICLE 3: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
  • To promote unity, friendliness and brotherhood among Akyems in Canada, to help one another, to protect our common interest and pursue activities of mutual interest and benefit.
  • To consider the possibility of offering some assistance to members in great financial distress and also in other emergency situation.
  • To share our deepest sympathy and affection with a member by giving him or her any possible help upon the death of a close family member such as Father, Mother, Spouse and Children.
  • To take full responsibility with the family of the deceased for the funeral and burial when death of a member occurs.
